The idea for Velha Infância (old childhood, in portuguese) came while I was going through old family photo albums. There was something really special about looking at those pre-cellphones photos,the kind that were taken with film cameras, printed out, and carefully kept in albums. Each photo felt more thoughtful, more meaningful. People weren’t snapping hundreds of shots a day, they were capturing real moments, and you can feel that when you look at them.

As I flipped through the pages, I started thinking about my childhood, the women in my family, and all the little details that made up our everyday lives in latin america. I kept noticing things like crocheted doilies on the tables, handmade blankets on the beds, and the way my grandmas and mom were always working on some sewing project. Craft was just always there — part of the background, part of home.

Those memories shaped the direction of the collection. I wanted the pieces to carry the same feeling as those old photos — something warm, personal, and rooted in tradition. The designs draw inspiration from the textures and patterns of crochet, as well as the colors and nostalgic mood of family photo albums.

Velha Infância is a way for me to reconnect with those memories and share a piece of that with others. It’s about family, craft, and the beauty of everyday moments.
